Parliament street was a dark old place as I remember it. The road was not properly made up to any standard, mostly compacted cinder I think. The bottom end had the Queen Mill and a scrap yard at the end of the road, the top end had another badly made road with a wood yard I think. I dare say a lot of happy families lived there but to me it was scruffy run down part of town.
